The Kinship Drawing

I met up with my friend and ex colleague Jackie today for lunch and a trip to Southampton Art Gallery to see a very interesting exhibition. It contained portraits of people with some connection to Southampton from the Portrait Gallery coupled with portraits in charcoal created by pupils from a local school as part of their GCSE work. It was fascinating. There was also a large drawing by artist Pete Codling, inspired by Picasso’s Guernica painting, of Southampton as a city of sanctuary for people from current war zones in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. It’s a stunning piece of work, part of which comprised my blip today. Extra of Southampton Guildhall in the sunshine today.
