James Saumarez Hall

James Saumarez was an Admiral in the British Navy with a distinguished record. He was Nelson’s secon in command at the Battle of the Nile.
He was originally de Sausmarez but decided to anglicize his name in case he was perceived to be French so dropped the ‘de’ and the second ‘S’.
So it’s ironic that somehow the sign for the name of the hall named after him also seems to have dropped a letter; in this case the ‘J’.
