Hornet?

I think it is a hornet, but keep seeing one here in the evenings and Pascale found a dead one today. So hoped it was dead or gone into hiding.

But saw one this evening and Gyp reacted badly and went staight outside!

Lovely day but I was a bit too unwell to go out. Time flying by and I feel I'm getting nowhere!
