Up in a pine tree

This here is a Fox squirrel, perched up in a pine tree, contentedly nibbling on a pine cone. These rodents are quite common in Los Angeles area, but they are not native to these parts. They were introduced in 1904 by some individuals and spread quickly. It looks like now they are actually threatening the Western Gray squirrel, which is native to Southern California.
