Ben Cruachan

A fantastic day's hillwalking with Jamie in perfect late summer weather. The round of Cruachan and Stob Diamh has been on our list ever since we looked admiringly at these hills three years ago from Beinn a' Chochuill and Beinn Eunaich.

The ascent was steep and strenuous. Pretty rough in places. And there were some parts of the ridge between Cruachan's summit and Drochaid Ghlas that were quite exposed and tricky.

Today was also a bit of unfinished business left over from a wet and misty Sunday in June 1986 when Fulton Draper and I climbed Stob Diamh but had to abandon our plan to do the full ridge walk because of poor weather. It's taken me 37 years but I've finally ticked that box!
