Lost Contact Procedure

I was watching The Cruel Sea over the weekend. Love that film. Gruff old Jack Hawkins chasing U-Boats and refusing to let them slip away, so when he isn't getting a radar echo after depth charging a submarine he barks "Lost Contact Procedure", and for the next 24 hours the crew are forced to endure anxiety and the privation of a hunt that may be a lost cause.

So it was with us when Tigger went out at 10.30 yesterday morning not to be seen again. No sign of said moggy this morning. Lost Contact Procedure involved speaking to neighbours, hunting high and low, speaking to garage doors. In between times a bloody cheeky  fox made two early morning forays into our garden before I chased it off.

Tears in the pet shop this afternoon when the sales assistant innocently asked  "how many cats do you have?" and got the whole tragic tail.

Tigger walked in at 5.30 looking lean and hungry with dirty paws so was probably locked in a shed or garage somewhere. Happy endings. Now curled up on her favourite blanket.

We were going to go to Lewes today but this and other things (including the not very nice weather) put us off. So a bit of a quiet day, made worse by me falling asleep three or four times with bad AF (not autofocus - see last Sunday's blip if you want an explanation) - most notably in Curry's whilst looking for a new cooker. Never done that before ...

However one high point: I actually made a batch of nice carrot cakes. Fantastic actually. The Dizzle has eaten three. Great British Bake-Off here I come...
