Needle museum

Despite living near this place for years I’d never been there. I met Hildasrose and Mrs Chrispybox there today. It really is excellent and contains a wealth of information and history about needle making in the Redditch and Studley area since the 18 th century. The photo is of the needles before they are polished scoured and cleaned etc. It was a complicated process, painstakingly carried out by hand by different workers. The people who made the points on grindstones only lived into their thirties because of lung disease caused by inhaling stone  and metal dusts. It was a harsh way of  life.
Our tickets cover a further two visits so we’ll definitely go back to see the exhibitions of needlework embroidery etc which they have there.
