Southern Hawker dragonfly

It was a very wet morning and the walking group cancelled their walk.  By lunchtime the sun came out so I went for a walk along the canal at Queen's Head.

I got chatting to a couple who were walking there (the only people that I met on my walk).  They came from Cumbria and had been down the canal on a narrowboat, they liked the look of this area and have come for a holiday based in Oswestry.

I saw a few Red Admiral butterflies and dragonflies hunting over the water.  This male Southern Hawker was perched close to a pool in the little reserve at Aston.
