Pascagoula Beach

Emergency blip today. It rained all day and finally quit this evening.

The beach is a man-made beach that was put in after Katrina. A section further down that was beach when Katrina hit protected homes that were on the road. Where there was no beach, the houses were "slabbed" or washed away and whatever was left was bulldozed down to the slab. So, they pumped sand from dredges, put in riff raff (rock) along the shoreline and planted grasses to help prevent erosion. Sand fences were put up after sand kept blowing on the road and causing problems.

Hopefully, this hurricane season will be uneventful!
