'Van on the Cherbourg-Poole ferry

We returned from France on the Barfleur, Brittany Ferries, and here the 'van can be seen tucked behind the red one, when we embarked at Cherbourg. It was a calm crossing; I wonder what happens to vehicles parked on this deck in rougher seas?!
