Stuff and Nonsense

Leopard Lacewing

It's been a pig of day weather wise with no more than 10-15 minutes of dry weather at a time, so stuck in the house again.

We nipped out to the butterfly house at lunchtime to feed the fish. There are still quite a few species about, but things are definitely slowing down. There are some HUGE owl caterpillars - about 5-6 inches long - that have decimated the banana plant! The feeling is that they will overwinter now that it's so much cooler and hopefully we will have some new arrivals in the spring/summer next year.
Looks like this Leopard Lacewing has recently hatched - one of my many favourites :)
