Chewing corellas

Corellas are protected in NSW but they are not universally popular. They travel in large, noisy flocks and they like to chew. They chew tree bark searching for food and they chew into the grass on golf courses and playing fields. They chew to keep their beaks healthy. It is suggested that they tear foliage off trees in order to have a clear view of any predators. I have even seen it suggested that they chew out of boredom.

This flock appeared out of the blue, presumably attracted by some food source in that patch of grass.
