Donkey Dessert

Another light service by the donkeys - no carrying water or anything heavy - just doing things that could be carried out while standing.

There was a kind of Equinox* party next to the field with the donkeys - not hosted by the donkeys - but after they had been fed the three followed us up to the fence and were immediately the centre of attention for LOTS of family groups.

The families were told that it's not ok to feed the donkeys - they have very sensitive digestions and colic can be fatal for donkeys.  So don't think you're giving them a treat, you could be killing them.

As anybody who has met me knows, I can be very shy but put me in front of a group of people who have donkey questions and are grinning like loons because they are looking at donkeys, and I am a man transformed.  Engage, answer, make people laugh. People like it a lot when they can stroke a donkey - possibly for the first time.

Time to say it again - if there is a donkey sanctuary near you, go visit.  Donate or help out.  And if you smell of donkeys when you get home, you did everything right.
