St Thomas’s Heatherycleugh

Bit dreich today. Molly and I drove to Cowshill to go to this morning’s church service. The church dates from 1823 but has only been on this site since 1915. The original site is a short distance away on Copt Hill. It was moved stone by stone in 1914 because the whinstone quarry nearby had caused the ground to erode. It was consecrated in 1915. The original graveyard apparently still exists but we didn’t go to look for it.
