Rocket ship car

Jill and I went to an event near Cleveland on the grounds of the former Euclid Beach Park. That amusement park operated from 1895 to 1969. Each year, a preservation society holds an event where the park was. People have parts of old rides, photos of the park and some park foods (ice cream and popcorn balls).

But the star is the rocket ship car. The metal ship was part of a ride called the Rocket Ships, which was a standard Circle Swing built by Harry Traver's company in western Pennsylvania. Those rides had three or four rockets (or airplanes) attached by wires to a 100-foot tower, and they swung around it as it spun.

After the park closed, a man who customizes vehicles brought two rocket ship cars home and turned them into personal vehicles. He rents them out for parties, weddings and events. Jill and I went for a ride in it. It was really fun.

We wanted to visit the park's carousel, which is still open at a history museum, but it was closed. We then drove to Geneva-on-the-Lake because it has a Fascination parlor, but that was also closed. We got dinner at a fun dog-friendly restaurant and called it a day.

In extras: A car from the Big Dipper roller coaster at Geauga Lake in Ohio. That park closed in 2007. And an antique car vehicle from a ride in Euclid Beach. There's still a small section of the track these cars would drive on.
