The Untrained Eye

The Golden Pavilion, Kyoto

This the main building in this temple complex which was built c. 500 years ago but was burnt down by a disgruntled student monk in 1950 but rebuilt c. 5 years later.

The building is covered in real but very thin gold sheet produced locally.

We’re on a really exhausting but very interesting tour of must sees in Japan.
