Wood Carvings

I must have passed these wood carvings before on the Lower Back Walk below the Castle but must admit I have never noticed them! There are several animal figures carved from what appears to be a fallen tree , including a horse and a wolf, along with this pensive looking creature. i have tried to ascertain who created them but to no avail. Perhaps someone in the area can enlighten me.
