Sgwarnog: In the Field

Lights

With the days getting shorter, evening fixtures are now properly “under lights” for their full duration. The third round of the League Cup saw Middlesbrough visiting Valley Parade for the second time in as many months, following a pre-season friendly in August. Their visiting fans filled the Midland Road stand, and there was a good atmosphere.

Boro may be currently down at the bottom of the Championship table but the gulf in class between them and City was obvious from the off - everything about their play was sharper, quicker and neater. It was no surprise when they took the lead and then another early in the second half effectively killed the game. Bradford did press well in the final quarter, but lacked to the quality to  convert that into any good chances.

I had been coaxed into a pre-match drink in the Corn Dolly but as someone that is usually settled in their seat a half hour before kick off I’m not sure I want to get into a habit of missing the kick off.
