Desperately seeking

Caught!

The Workshops makes lure handles for Rhuallan Raptors and today we delivered them as they had offered to fly the birds for us.

The business is run by a lovely couple, George and Lesley, who made us feel very welcome. We spent ages chatting over cups of tea even before we saw the birds. You know how some people are on your wavelength and you really enjoy their company!

So, with batteries charged and cards emptied, we went into the field. First we took shots of the smooth graceful flight of Bella, the Barn owl. Then we had a go at snapping the fast flight of Jack, the Harris hawk. Finally we tried to track a Laner falcon, Guinevere, as she wheeled and dived chasing the lure.

Much harder!

I could have used an elegant raptor in flight shot, you know, wings nicely at an angle, head looking towards you, but I could do that again another day. What I may never catch again is that moment when a falcon catches its prey!

So, this is my blip of a day I will always remember!
