Colour-matching

With a lot of help from Firstborn, I am painting my large open plan kitchen white this week. I am considering - decision not yet made - painting the long plain wall a darker colour.

I am considering - decision not yet made - installing the stained glass that was above my front door in the space that used to be an outside window but which is now an internal gap.

I know that pigment colour is very different from light colour but is there any chance of making the colours work together? And if so, how do I find a match?
