Dumfries House

The fabulous walled garden - we attended a Scotlands Gardens Conference at Dumfries House in Ayr and stayed overnight at The Lodge. The conference programme was a great reminder of the charities benefitting from all the work and enjoyment involved when you open your private garden to the public. A talk from the Dumfries House Head Gardener was followed by a garden tour. Her enthusiasm and commitment were really impressive and infectious. After breakfast, we revisited the walled gardens and appreciated them quietly in the lovely autumn sunshine. Dumfries House is well worth a visit.
