The Buttermere Stick

As Google Maps have already renamed the Sycamore Gap as the Sycamore stump, I thought I'd better rename the Buttermere Birch the Buttermere Stick - as in Storm Agnes, the branch which grew on the upper right of the trunk was snapped off. 

As I was set up taking this photo - someone walking past said "are you taking that before someone chops it down"?

Fortunately, Birch is a fast growing tree, and I'll be interested to watch the growth bushing out from the base, which has grown significantly since my first Blip of this tree. 

To shoot this, I fortunately took my wellies with me - and the water was nearing the tops of those!
