wild & precious life

Goodbye beautiful ancient Sycamore

This is heart breaking. So many of us in the North East (and beyond) are shocked and upset at the destruction of our beautiful historic landmark on Hadrian's Wall and this violent, senseless act against nature. (Backblip)

I'm so sad for nature right now. Yesterday we had the news that the abundance of species in the UK has declined by 19% over my lifetime (we have lost 1 in 6 of our species) and we are one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world due to human activity. We have less than half of our biodiversity remaining.
The director of the RSPB said " for anyone who cares about future generations and the state of nature, now is the time to urgently get to grips with the scale of our collective challenge...we simply cannot be complacent with words such as extinctions, ecological tipping points, and nature and climate emergencies."

People all over the world are experiencing the catastrophic effects of the climate emergency.

I'm feeling a bit helpless and very concerned for the future but I'm extremely thankful for those that work to preserve nature and to tackle climate change and the oppression of nature. I'm praying that we may all live gently, care for our beautiful world and speak out for urgent change!
