‘The View from the Other Side’

I didn’t run parkrun today but volunteered instead. As it’s run - on the ground - entirely by participants willing to help out occasionally, I always try to do my bit too!

Today my role was ‘funnel manager’, This has two different phases. Firstly, at the start, to warn dog walkers and others that a horde of runners will shourtly be appearing and asking them to keep out of the way while they pass, and secondly, just beyond the finish line, keeping finishers moving and in the same order as they finished as they proceed down the finish funnel to pick up their finish token to be scanned. 

Compared to doing one best sprint towards the line, the view is certainly different from here!
