The Palace

Chuseok holiday continues and the locals in Seoul are celebrating. So many people were at the Palace today, in traditional Hanbok dress, taking family photographs. It was a photographic dream. A selfie dream too it seems.

From there we wandered around Seoul central, admiring the statues of King Shejong (creator of Hanguel characters and all round good guy) and Admiral Yi Sun-sin - who in 1592 defeated a Japanese invasion with just 37 vessels.

On to a local cultural village where I was fascinated by the size of the kimchi jars people stored in their gardens.
It poured down today, our first rain, but that gave us a chance for lunch.

We have eaten such incredibly tasty food in Korea. It's impossible to know if a shop front is a restaurant and we would be lost if it wasn't for Tom. Tiny wee places that you might turn your nose up at producing amazing food. I don't know what will happen when we go home and have only one plate of food.
