Canal Foot

The Ulverston Canal, built in 1796, provided a port for Ulverston for the trade in iron ore and slate.  The canal was designed by Rennie and is 1.25 miles long, dead straight and would take a maximum beam of 27 feet.  It ceased commercial use in 1915.
