… at last. 

We have just heard that the operation to insert a pressure-relieving shunt into Smithers’ eye will take place tomorrow. Our eldest son is on his way up from Hampshire and will drive him to the hospital for the 7.00 am appointment.

Smithers and I are both hugely relieved that the wait is nearly over, although we are aware that it will be some time before his eye settles down and his sight returns.
