Sunderland, Rigs and Ships and Stuff

A research visit to St Peter's Basin campus at Sunderland University. It is a lovely little campus right by the river leading up to a Marina and the North Sea. In the other direction is a miniature Tyne Bridge, although the Sunderland natives would not thank me for saying so. It is always interesting to see the big cranes, oil rigs and ocean going freight and service ships here. A vestige of a fast receding era. A lot of folk fish along here as well, although none out today unfortunately.

Who would have thought it, an 'adopted Geordie' singing the praises of Sunderland! I would not go as far as complementing their football team though...

Home on the Metro back to 'Geordieland' and civilization once again....only joking!
