Pretty pest

M said.."Theres a pretty moth on the conservatory wall  perhaps youd like to take a photo"  so I grabbed the camera.
The moth was quite high up so it wasnt easy to take its photo without camera shake.

I didnt recognise it so I 'Googled it'
It turns out it is a Box Tree moth. It originates from Asia and has only been recorded in the uk in the last decade . Google said it was only seen in the south of the country ( wrong we're in the north) and it is a registered as a pest. The caterpillars are voracious eater and can decimate a box hedge in a few weeks.

We have a few box bushes and box bonsai so we went onto full alert.
When I went  on our Bonsai Facebook group it appears some people have lost trees and hedges as a result of the Box Tree moth caterpillars.
So, the moth has been despatched by M .
