Boardwalk

This is a section of a boardwalk that follows the Kenai River for several hundred yards right in the town of Soldotna. It is one of my favorite places to walk because in most areas it is impossible to walk along the river bank. I particularly like this section because of its design.
Several years ago there was a huge ice dam here that tore up a large part of the boardwalk.
The aluminum stairs that you see are so that people can walk down and fish for salmon. In winter the stairs are pulled up so they are not wrecked by the ice.
Soldotna is 10 miles from where we live and is where we go for groceries, gas, and whatever else we need.
