Jacaranda

The jacarandas are early. In a couple of days they’ve gone from bare branches to flowers drifting down onto parked cars, footpaths and fences, a carpet of lilac. It used to be said that students had left it too late to start studying for exams if the jacaranda in the main quad was flowering.
