Imagination

I stop.
I close my eyes.

And…yes, I can hear the whistle. And the is that loud regular
puffing sound.
It is the 1860s. Here comes the steam locomotive. It is hauling many trucks full of high quality coal which it has brought across the country from the Durham coalfield. It is taking them to the Furness peninsula where there is a good supply of iron ore. It will add to the amazing growth of Britain’s economy.

But then I open my eyes. The whistling is my hearing aids. The puffing was my heavy breathing as I try to do 3 miles per hour to beat that rain shower.
Oh well. But it was fun while it lasted. But I am glad I did not step off the track into the water filled ditch.
