end of time

the clock's portion
passing
measuring
end of time
end time
and
shall i count
the fall of hours
and days
echoing
"have you come to ask me to dance?"
the question falling
into emptiness
music and
clockwork turning
whilst mourners amend their dress
to black
with a turning back
to:
"good morning children"
desks creak
feet shuffle
"today we are going to learn to tell the time"
spring light spreading
across high room's ceilings
"can anyone tell me what time this clock says?"

hush
be silent time
measure us not
judge us not
condemn us
not
remember me now
forgive us now
and
at the time
of
our
end of time

slip away
