Wednesday

This morning's walk took us from Silbury Hill, around the West Kennet Long Barrow, then across the fields to Avebury.

Lots of livestock to avoid in the fields.

We had a tea stop at the NT cafe where we watched a man in his 90s struggle to rise from his seat. His wife was very patient as he insisted that he required no help. It was painful to watch. A far more assertive woman helped him up eventually. He was delightful, switched on and full of chat. Grateful, I think, of a bit of aid in the end.

Just after that, a woman about my age, simply fell flat on her face. No apparent rhyme nor reason. Everyone jumped to their feet to aid her. So many lovely, kind people around. Her face took the full impact of the gravel path. She was taken into the museum alongside. What a shame. A nice day out spoilt for her.

A warm day.
