While on my runs

Voting Day

The opinion polls suggest (rather strongly) that a combination of National, ACT and NZ First parties will have a majority and be able to form a Government. This is despite the leader of National being a first term Parliamentarian. Coming from a business background, he appears to think that the job of a Government is to cut costs (read: support for those who need it) so that they can increase the return to shareholders (read: their wealthy supporters) by reducing tax rates, when many (including all the most wealthy) pay less than 10% tax already. Employees have been paying up to 37% on the highest portion of their income.

Christopher Luxon's naivety showed out when he claimed to spend only $60 a week on groceries. In trying to correct this he said he meant breakfasts. I challenge anyone with a wife and two children to get seven breakfasts a week for $2.25 each and be eating a healthy diet.

I fear for the poor over the next three years.
