Reflections in Time

July 4th

July 4th as you know is Independence Day in the states.

I live (I typed love instead of live-Freudian slip! I do love Iowa!) in Iowa fireworks are illegal. So many people drive the 45 minutes or so into Missouri where fireworks are legal, to buy their 4th of July fun.

They bring the fireworks back into Iowa and then the fun begins; because they are still illegal.

The fact of the matter is that when then 4th comes fireworks are going off everywhere; and there is no way law enforcement can keep up with it.

The city does provide an absolutely spectacular fireworks display for everyone to see though.

Once in Chicago we were on the 45th floor of a high rise apartment building located on the shores of Lake Michigan. The fireworks display, which was synchronized with music, took place at the Navy Pier which was just below us; and it was amazing to be at eye level of all those bursting colors.
