Indigo Bunting

This fellow (definitely a male) was near the top of Mt. Holyoke (in Skinner State Park), where we have seen Indigo Buntings (Passerina cyanea) fairly regularly in the spring. It was in a high tree with irregular backlighting from the afternoon sun, so not an ideal shot, but it does look perhaps a bit romantic.

It was our first trip to the summit area this year; the so-called Summit House (a former hotel) has been under renovation and the road has been closed until a few days ago.
