..friday part III

Lingua Ignota

Islington Assembly Hall

Perpetual Flame Volume 2 weekend event (Friday)
"final performance of sermons of  current and back catalogue"

Quite unique and always a must see I saw her last year, (which I enjoyed even more - venue and movement around the stage).  https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3026578940270481029

This was also excellent and well worth sacrificing a very good Nottingham gig for (Flatworms).

This was her last performance under the name Lingua Ignota - she's now transforming into The Reverand Kristin Michael Hayter as she begins her journey back to the Christian religion.  It's her real name prefixed by Reverand.

Wellbeing/ TK
Unusually for me, I could not get The King out of my mind during the performance and shed a few tears; aided by the emotional intensity of the performance no doubt. His condition has been steadily improving with all the medical intervention thankfully.

Gig Review
The whole progam of artsists and performances was meticulously constructed around her being and influences (see t-shirt extra).

Friday's show was a deconstruction of her self. Her performance was stripped down to  just her voice and a piano - played continuously without break for well over an hour. Her religious and classically trained voice ranges from soprano to just above bass, but also incorporates goth/metal rasping. The audience watched her in complete silence throughout.

HIDE - was a mixture of metal synth and a goth style scantily dressed visual artist and "screecher"

Jo Quail - a classically trained cellist, played her own electric work on electric cello, was gushing with gratitude and joy at performing her own work to such a large and appreciative audience

The free sunday event was goth and tattoo themed (I only went for Friday).

I was very pleased to have a seat on the balcony above the main floor (standing), but means less sharp photos this time. I moved to the floor for the encore.

Lingua Ignota (wikipedia extract)

is latin or "unknown language") was described by the 12th-century abbess Hildegard of Bingen, who apparently used it for mystical purposes. It consists of vocabulary with no known grammar; the only known text is individual words embedded in Latin. To write it, Hildegard used an alphabet of 23 letters denominated litterae ignotae (Latin for "unknown letters")

I love her music too...
