Gaia's Child

Just a Wren?

A Big Personality in a tiny package. That's how I would describe this Carolina Wren, Thryothorus ludovicianus. A common backyard bird in the southeast U.S., this wren is an insect eater but I've never seen one turn down what we offer in our feeders. They are especially fond of BarkButter! And they certainly enjoy baths in our bog. It's not unusual to see one perched on the back of a patio chair staring into the house through our sliding glass door. I appreciate that they vocalize throughout the day in all seasons, always having something to say.
