Sensualism: Halloween Special 2023

Back to work. Started watching Inception again for the first time since 2010 and it’s still such an amazing film. There is not an ounce of fat or wasted time in that film and it’s thrilling from start to finish. On second viewing there was added tension with how the characters deal with consequences. It’s incredibly dense yet strangely familiar thematically. It’s easy to see parallels with this and Shutter Island, not only for Leonardo DiCaprio but the themes it tackles.

Inception is outstanding (and I don’t use that word lightly) in its scale and efficiency. The Matrix is verbose in comparison (although I still love it a lot). It’s tricky to follow yet in each scene you can connect to it on a subconscious level as the pretty pictures and symbolism teases your brain and expectations for its characters. Great work. I don’t think Christopher Nolan has a dud film. They’ve all been of a consistent high quality, his worst being brilliant standing next to most, if not almost all Hollywood blockbusters. A fine balance.
