Be Kind

This white pigeon appears occasionally in our garden. It’s not an albino; it has some grey feathers and its eyes aren’t pink, so it must be leucistic. I was watching it today and was dismayed to see its fellow feral pigeons clearly bullying it, causing it to fly off fearfully every so often. I saw it eye up the bird bath on the path, clearly wanting a drink. It cautiously sidled up to it, only to back away, having spotted a tiny goldfinch sitting on the rim, having a drink …

The first extra shows its small patch of grey feathers but also, worryingly, what looks like a wound on its neck, presumably from fighting off another bird. I was pleased to see (second extra) that he did manage to have a drink in the end.
