James Watt, Artist

Art, Drama, Creative Writing...

Pupils studying Art & Design from Notre Dame High were the first to arrive this morning at the Beacon in Greenock. As James Watt talked with the class, they had good questions to ask, and were surprised to hear that the paintings they were looking at had been done in a day.

Joined later by pupils taking Art & Design at Kirkintilloch HS, the youngsters listened intently as they prepared to create their own ideas for their artwork.

The Kirkintilloch Drama class shared a special session about life on board the puffers with the artist as they worked on ideas for the piece they are preparing inspired by his artwork where puffers are something of an icon.

Kirkintilloch also had their own pupil photographer with them archiving the event.

And finally, pupils from St Columba's HS arrived to work on creative writing inspired by the paintings.

Like the Notre Dame HS and Kirkintilloch HS pupils, those from S Columba's also visited the harbours area, following in the footsteps of the artist.

Thanks to the three schools!

Now looking forward to seeing the paintings, drama, poems and photographs which the pupils create...
