Slave to the clutch

On Tuesday I packed all my gear in anticipation of a camping trip in my Land Rover. When I went to get the Land Rover out the clutch had failed. A quick inspection revealed a leaking clutch slave cylinder. This is the replacement. It should be an hours work to fit it, but one of the unions on the hydraulic pipe is seized solid. I was about to cut the pipe when I decided it would be best to check I can get a replacement off the shelf. It is a 25cm pipe with 2 unions bent in an S shape. It is only available as a genuine Land Rover part and costs £39.21. This cast and machined slave cylinder with precision made rubber seals cost £34. Time for a re-think.
