For my money this is one of the very best songs by Ray Davies. Take the ‘midde’ bit, in this case the second ‘middle bit.’ In most pop tunes this would be a couple of minor chords, then back to the major again. But this one goes on forever and is full of musicality. It builds and builds until it bursts back into the chorus.
 ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes....’ And here it is.
