Sgwarnog: In the Field

Sita

15yo and I headed into Lister Park to enjoy some of the autumn colours, particularly in the Japanese garden.

The exhibitions at Cartwright Hall have undergone something of a revamp since we were last there, a new Asian gallery and a “calm” room being the latest changes.

The Cartwright is known for its collection of South Asian art, a result of purposeful purchases in recent decades more than colonial plunder. This bust of Sita from the Tamil-Nadu region was purchased for the collection in the 1980s, with Rama displayed facing her.
