Mother Karelia and her son

This statue is part of a larger memorial made to honor the soldiers who died or went missing in Russian Karelia during our wars 1939-1945. The statue is surrounded by a black granite stone wall, on which are engraved the names, lifetimes and hometowns of approx. 5,500 soldiers. The massive black wall is 70 meters long. The Mother Karelia sculpture was erected in 1993 on the side of the central park of the hero's cemetery and the town hall.

I think I haven't ever before took any photo of this statue  from this view point, so now its done.
