Whooper Swan

The first Whooper swans returned to WWT Martin Mere on the 10th October, and there are now over 400 of them. The majority will arrive in November. Each year, whooper swans make the 500-mile migration from Iceland to spend the winter at Martin Mere.

I've struggled with the processing of this photo. It seemed to be too contrasty, so I've lowered the contrast and re-posted, but I'm still not happy with it. ( It looks better in large). I could post a more techinally perfect close-up of a whooper, but I wanted to show the 'You just land where you want and the rest of us will all get out of the way' idea.
