Reykjafoss in Hveragerði

The travel plan for today would have brought us to Reykjavik, but since we were finally going to have some nice weather, we opted for a day in nature instead! We visited two waterfalls, of which the Reykjafoss in Hveragerði was one. We also visited a lake, a lava rock pool at the coast and a small volcanic crater. This is quite the way to finish a trip, but there was more in store for us! After dinner, we decided to get out again and visit the old lighthouse in Garður. It's a place I have been to a couple of times before. I was still hoping to get a glimpse of the aurora and sure enough: the clouds opened up, revealing a faint but distinct aurora! See the extra shot with this blip. After the excitement of capturing that, we went back to the hotel for a very short night as we're having breakfast at 4.00 for an early flight back to Schiphol.
