High tide at Anstruther

When this is going on, you have to be very careful where you stand to avoid getting drenched by salt water. When the wind is from this direction, each incoming wave is reflected from the harbour wall and collides with the next wave, with spectacular effect. By sheer coincidence, the Wide Wednesday theme is stones or bricks. The stone wall at the right of the picture was built by Thomas Stevenson of the Lighthouse Stevenson family and father of the author Robert Louis Stevenson. After 150 years or so, it is still doing its job. The extra is a similar, wider view. Thanks to BobsBlips for hosting.
