A bargain

We loaded the car up with our recycling and rubbish this morning and went to the Waitaki Resource Recovery Park.  Having distributed the recycling in all the correct bins with help from the very friendly and knowledgeable staff and paid our fee for the rubbish ($16), we drove out and then back in as we wanted to look in the shop and see if there were any treasures.  MrMacD found a set of chrome door handles that will be perfect for a door downstairs and I found a biscuit tin.  We also discovered that we can take batteries, ink cartridges and toothpaste tubes for recycling.  We then had a look around the outside areas and that’s when we found the real bargain - a dressing table.  It has a three-part mirror as well, but we didn’t want that, so we got just the dressing table for $30.  By the time I’ve upcycled it, it will look completely different.  We returned home with our purchases, then went to Mitre10 to collect the items we paid for yesterday.  That was the morning over and done with.

This afternoon MrMacD assembled and installed the cupboard while I made seeded crackers, granola and mayonnaise.

It was hot (23deg) and sunny today.  It’s now 9:30pm, the temperature has plummeted and the rain has started.  It’s going to be back to winter tomorrow.
